The signal to the amplifier can be provided by using XLR balanced or RCA single-ended cables. The custom input buffer board offers 4 different input gain settings levels.
"Op Amp rolling" Feature
Our custom input buffer board by default comes with the very advanced OPA 1656 operational amplifiers. But if you would at any time wish to change the sound characteristics of the Apollon NCx500 ST amplifier you can do so with simply exchanging the op amp (so called Op amp rolling). Our custom input buffer board comes with a DIP8 socket that enables you to attach a wide range of DIP8 compatible operational amplifiers on the market.

It’s like I’m listening to everything again for the first time. So many details, such holographic soundstage, and such depth/speed!
Though I initially thought 600 Watts into 4 ohms would be overkill for these little speakers, I now understand how much they come alive with this much current!

I have several amplifiers. A Wilsenton tube amp and a Parasound. The Apollon will be in the main system. It’s so clean and effortless especially at higher power levels. It covers all genres of music quite well. My other amps sound different and will remain in my collection for now. I’ve rolled several opamps and allows flexibility for tuning. Very happy with my new toy ! I really like the looks, the build is solid, the features I need are there (12V trigger, easily selectable gain, RCA/XLR selection) and the sound is absolutely gorgeous. I used to have a nice Topping D70Pro Sabre DAC between the streamer and the Apollon amp, feeding the latter with 4V balanced (XLR), but I realized I really couldn’t hear the difference between that and just feeding the amp directly 2V unbalanced (RCA) from the WiiM Pro Plus, so the DAC is now retired 🙂

After four months of ownership I’m very happy to report that the Apollon NCx500 ST is nothing short of brilliant! I have multiple amps here, of various vintages and topologies, and they *all* produce some level of audible hiss on my big JBL\’s tweeters, and some even do with the much less efficient KEF LS50s. Not the Apollon. It is silent. Completely silent! That alone is incredibly impressive, but the power and neutrality you\’d expect from the latest Hypex modules is there in spades as well. The assembly work and parts quality is fantastic – so much better than the UK builders in my view – and Apollon remains competitive on price even when factoring in UK import duty. Make no mistake, the NCx500 ST is likely a big upgrade on typical studio power amps from Bryston, Crown, Yamaha and the like. It\’s also compact, cool running, and affordable enough to form the heart of a high-end hi-fi set-up (if you\’re looking at \”big brand\” Class D power amps, honestly I\’ve demoed many of them and they all had flaws not present in the Apollon unit). Tibor was very helpful in answering some important pre and post-purchase questions. And in conclusion it\’s just a question of when, not if, I\’ll be placing another order with Apollon!

I love this little amplifier from the first tunes on. Clear, neutral and noiseless! Detailed as hell but never stressful.
To be honest, it discovers poor recordings and thus
Is some sort of unforgiving, but that helps to avoid such recordings, I love it!
The only issue I have, are the feet. Those little plastic knobs does not fit the craftmenship of this device! Replaced them immediately.
Get\\\’s unusually hot even without load? Hope that will cause no problems. I used an Icepower driven amplifier before, that always stayed cool.
