The Apollon Audio PET1203 Home Cinema LCR Amplifier is exceptionally fast, uncommonly clean, and exceedingly musical with articulated, deep, tight, and powerful bass. This is how the amplifier can be described in one sentence and we have accomplished that with using a linear power supply to power the highly acclaimed Weiss OP2-BP Op Amp that is incorporated on our custom input buffer board.

Exceptional Chassis Design
The chassis is custom machined from solid aluminium. 20mm thick walls and 8mm thick lid and bottom. For improved aesthetics we have designed the chassis in such a way that there are no screws visible when you look at the amplifier as they are only on the bottom plate. The aluminium feet provide isolation and absorption from the ground plane.
The chassis is executed in a very tasteful piano black color (available in pearl white, silver metallic and custom colours). We also offer it in anodised finish if the client wishes.
A very special feature is the backlit glass plate with the engraved Apollon mark and the large heatsinks inside that absorb the heat from the Purifi 1ET9040BA modules and helps with keeping the amplifier running on normal operating temperature even under high loads.

LAYOUT AND DESIGN
The PET1203 Home Cinema amplifier is hand-built with highest precision using only highest quality components. To connect your speakers we use custom built Apollon Pure OFC Copper Binding Posts that are internally connected to the amplifier with Pure OCC 12AWG Copper Output Wire and soldered with silver solder. The input connectors are Neutrik high quality silver plated XLR sockets. The amplifier has a soft start function and it is turned on with a hidden push button switch on the bottom lid.
The Home Cinema amplifier contains three Purifi 1ET9040BA modules coupled with our Apollon Audio PET custom input buffer boards with the acclaimed Weiss OP2-BP Op Amps onboard. The PET1203 amplifier is powered with three SMPS Hypex power supplies boasting 1200 Watts of power each. The standby control module is powered with a low-voltage power supply unit.
Providing low ripple and ultra low noise power to the Weiss OP2-BP Op Amps is possible with our custom designed linear power supply with large Nichicon capacitors that play a key role for ultra low noise and fast transient responses on our custom input buffer boards for the Purifi 1ET9040BA based amplifier. They are responsible for improved low level listening ability, far superior 3D soundstage and high frequency details. The difference is mostly noticeable at higher volumes, where the clarity remains on higher levels and with ample details and dynamics even at low listening levels.

I am completely delighted with my Apollon Audio PET1203 amplifiers:
– both amps arrived safe and sound in professional packaging
– fantastic build quality (see photos) and an extremely high-quality finish (high-gloss piano black) and really heavy as well (abt 15 kilos each)
– The amplifiers naturally benefit greatly from the superb Purifi 1ET9040BA single-ended amplifier modules, which Apollon has selected and installed here, though of course did not develop itself.
But regardless of how much of the success here can be attributed to Apollon and Purifi: the Apollon amps have replaced amplifiers whose original price was several times that of the Apollon amps, and – in my subjective opinion – I have by no means lost out, but gained considerably more amplifier power than before (whatever that might be good for…)
– the 5-year warranty (Apollon offers an extension as an option) means I can sleep easy until 2031
Where do I see room for improvement?
Quite clearly in Apollo’s communication with the customer:
The delivery of my two amps was significantly delayed, but Apollon only kept me informed about this very slowly and in ‘bite-sized’ chunks.
It turned out that the reason for the delay was one amplifier failed Apollon’s internal quality control.
It goes without saying that, with amplifiers in this price range, I will only accept them if they are 100% in working order.
If Apollon had informed me in a timely manner about the cause of the delay, it would have saved me a lot of worry.
I hope that Apollon improves its communication policy in this respect.
